everyone met at our house on September 2nd, stayed the night, then drove up through northern GA into Franklin, NC. below is a photo of where we ate lunch the first day, September 3rd, very close to our campground: Fat Buddies Ribs & BBQ. afterward, the girls grocery shopped for our stay while the guys and kids set up camp.
it was Mom's night to make dinner, so while she worked on that, most of us went down to the cold stream to play in the water. one of my favorite parts of camping when i was little. Ezekiel and Ian's adventurousness was quite fun to take part in.
by the time we got back to the campsite, Mom had chicken alfredo with broccoli all ready, yum. for dessert, we had s'mores - the best camping dessert ever!
the next day we headed towards Highlands, NC. we stopped to hike to Dry Falls, a waterfall that you can walk behind.
there was a couple from Highlands down at the falls and they recommended a place for lunch in Cashiers, NC, called Cornucopia. i thought i got a photo of it, but i can't seem to find it, but here's a link to my brother and sister-in-law's blog post about it:
